US film-makers and YouTube superstars Wong Fu Productions were in Melbourne last weekend on their latest international tour. In our exclusive video interview, we catch up with the guys about their craziest fans, Asian stereotypes, Valentine’s Day, future plans and much more.
Almost 700 fans braved the cold and rain to watch Wong Fu Productions live in Melbourne on Saturday, March 3. The line snaked around two blocks of Swanston St – so rare a sight in Melbourne, passerbys stopped just to ask what was going on.

The fans’ patience was testament to how hugely popular Wesley Chan, Philip Wang and Ted Fu have become across the globe thanks to their YouTube channel, Wong Fu Productions. With more than a million subscribers, the guys have cemented their place as some of the most popular Asian celebrities online.
Australia was the last stop for Wong Fu Productions on a tour that had already taken them to Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore. Their Melbourne show promised to be an intimate “getting-to-know-you” session with their fans – Wong Fu Weekend style – and the guys didn’t disappoint.
Wang and Chan (Fu couldn’t make it for personal reasons) took to the stage to share personal anecdotes about their journey so far and never-before-seen videos. Melbourne fans were even the “test audience” for their latest short – a comical piece inspired by the Occupy movements.
Before the show, we had a chance to catch up the guys to talk all things Wong Fu.
