VICTORIA Police’s Crime Stoppers Unit has issued a public appeal for information regarding a recent sexual assault near the University of Melbourne. Grace Yew reports.
A young woman was sexually assaulted on the University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus at about 3am on Sunday, November 25.
The 21-year-old was approached by a man when she was walking home alone on Swanston Street, near the Grattan Street intersection.
The man walked alongside her until they reached Masson Road, where he allegedly forced her into a Melbourne University garden and sexually assaulted her.

She described the offender as “pathetic” to The Age.
“It’s just not right. I’m an innocent girl who was just trying to find her way home and he took advantage,” she said
I never thought it would happen to me.”
Victoria Police has released a digital image of a man whom they believe may be able to assist in their investigation (pictured above).
The assailant is described as being of Asian appearance. He is between 20 and 25 years old, and about 165cm tall with a medium build.
He wore a grey hoodie at the time of the crime, and reportedly speaks with an Asian accent.
