LAST chance to enjoy watching movies outdoors at the Opel Moonlight Cinema in Melbourne, and we’ve got three pairs of tickets to give away!

There are few things you want to do less in summer than sit in a stuffy cinema with carpeted walls and sticky seats, which is where the Opel Moonlight Cinema comes in.

Every year, the Royal Botanic Garden is transformed from gorgeous garden to outdoor cinema as thousands of avid movie fans swap darkened theatres for nights under the stars.

There are no seats, but you can rent bean bags, bring your own or just pack up a blanket and find a place on the lawn.

The trick is to get there early so you can nab the best seats in front of the giant inflatable screen, and don’t forget to bring a picnic. You can buy food at the venue, but it’s just as much fun to pack up a basket of goodies to nibble on.

The films are a mix of the latest theatre releases and good old favourites. The setting sun and the garden’s bats provide a bit of pre-movie entertainment and the sound quality is impressive considering you’re outside.

The Opel Moonlight Cinema is on until March 31. Tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for concession, but…

We’ve got three pairs of tickets to give away to our lucky readers!

For your chance to win, simply tell us about your favourite movie in the comments section below. Remember to provide your real name and email address so we can get in contact with you.

The competition closes March 12 and is only open to participants in Victoria. Winners will be picked in a random draw and notified via email.

Winner gets to pick what session they’d be keen to attend. The only exceptions on the list are:
  • Warm Bodies
  • A Good Day to Die Hard
  • Hyde Park on Hudson

My favourite movie is JOY LUCK CLUB. Ive watched this movie for more than 10 times and I will still go for it, if I’m given the chance.

The depth, pain & joy of intergenerational relationships told in the movie are so enriching. To add, the amazing research conducted on the histories of the Chinese people who migrated to America was thoroughly conducted. Kudos to the director & producer for choosing a team of such an amazing casts. Their acting were simply BRILLIANT! It is a MUST WATCH movie!!!!

I love “You’ve Got Mail”, because 1) Tom Hanks is the leading actor, 2) it is a light romantic comedy between two bookshop owners, and 3) there is this sweet conversation between Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan towards the end of the movie… “Hey how about coffee, drinks or a diner or a movie.. For as long as both shall live?”. I watched it after finishing a night shift to help me wind down 🙂

Love Actually is my favourite movie. Whenever I feel sad or let down, I’ll play this movie to feel the love. It’s true what the movie says “Love is in fact everywhere.” And you just need to look for it at the right place and time; and for the right people. Of course, IMDB doesn’t rate the movie highly enough but I still don’t get bored after re-watching it several times. And I know that it’s a chick flick movie but hey it’s a good movie to me.

I love Silver Linings Playbook. It’s a romantic comedy, but unlike others, it actually unfolds deep into human psychology. It’s very important to always have a positive outlook when dealing with difficult situations, like what Pat (Bradley Cooper) did. Along the way, he met Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) who helped him to get out of his sufferings and revealed the silver linings. Hence, i guess the moral message from the movie is we need to start everyday with a positive attitude, leave all bad memories behind and believe that a better tomorrow will come 🙂

I love “The notebook” most. It has been always a very inspiring film and for me, all the conversations in the film were just excellent and deeply meaningful. For those who are in love and encountering a lot of obstacles that my prevent you and your lover to be happy together forever, this film can be a “guide” that inspires you and light your path. Yes, the way is in your heart. As long as you listen to the voice deep inside your heart, you will definitely be able to make a miracle. That’s what I got from the film. Hope everyone enjoy the film!

The Big Blue… amazing story, amazing lanscapes, amazing people, all reunited underwater – the most peaceful place on Earth. This movie is an opportunity to ‘get’ the Ocean and its mysterious power. At the end you just wanna jump in the water and swim as long as possible with dolphins jumping around!
