THIS Thursday, March 7 marks International Women’s Day, and what better way to remember how far women’s rights have come than through a moving performance of struggle and escape. Juliana Mare has more details.

On the eve of International Women’s Day, the City of Melbourne is hosting a free performance of Tammy Anderson’s one-woman show, I don’t wanna play house.
An autobiographical retelling of highly personal events from her life through monologues, movement and song, Anderson’s performance touches on issues of child abuse, domestic violence and ultimately, escape.
Follow Anderson as she leads audiences on a journey through moments of darkness and trauma, as well as inspiration, love and laughter – much like life itself.
A support worker sensitive to family violence issues will also be present on the day.
This one-off, free performance will be held at Melbourne Town Hall on Thursday, March 7, 12pm, followed by a light lunch at 1pm. I don’t wanna play house premiered in 2001 and after touring nationally, is returning to Melbourne for one show only so bookings are essential.
