POLICE have cordoned off the area outside a student accommodation on Pelham St in Carlton where a dead body has been found. Karen Poh reports.
A dead body has been found outside Micasa8, a student accommodation on Pelham St in Carlton earlier this afternoon.
A passerby, Julian Tay, said he was in a friend’s car turning into Pelham St as police were cordoning off the area.
“I saw cops blocking off the area in front of Chai and talking to witnesses. Saw the coverings on the floor, and realised someone had died,” Mr Tay said.
“That was about 2.20pm,” he said.
Speaking to police at the scene, Heath Armstrong on Twitter said the suspected cause of death was a “fall from a balcony”.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said police were treating the incident as a non-suspicious death and no further details would be released.

The fall happened around 1:28 pm unfortunately. I was hoping the guy made it because I couldn’t stay back for long, but thanks for the closure :/
