DREAMING of making great desserts at home? Taste Studio has launched a series of cooking lessons perfect for dessert lovers. The first one’s on this Sunday. Hadi Ismanto has more.
Whether you’re a fancy-cupcake kind of girl or a fruity-snow-ice kind of guy, a good dessert has always been a vital part of that quintessential ‘complete dining experience’.
Unfortunately, a good dessert can also be seriously difficult to make at home and expensive to buy. And we’re not talking about the ice cream you find in the freezer of your closest supermarket. We’re talking about those really fancy desserts, the ones that make you drool when you see them, the ones that force you to pull out your phone and Instagram immediately, the ones with hard to pronounce French or Italian names.
Taste Studio is helping you make those types of fancy desserts with your own flair, at your own pace and in the comfort of your own kitchen with their new series of cooking lessons.
Taste Studio is a project initiated by two Melbourne food enthusiasts and is about sharing, learning and having fun with food.
Their first cooking class ‘Deconstructed Layers’ is on this Sunday May 19 from 2pm to 4.30pm in the function room of Zen Apartments in the CBD. In attendance will be guest chef Ardika Dwitama. A renowned patissier, Ardika has worked for Union Jakarta – famous for its red velvet cake – and now works for Burch & Purchese Melbourne.
At this inaugural cooking class, aspiring chefs will learn how to make two deconstructed recipes, one with chocolate, vanilla and salted caramel, and the other with coconut, lemon and mango. While these ingredients sound normal enough, Taste Studio promises there will be a twist. At the end of the session, each participant will be given the recipes, so they can recreate the magic at home.
For more information about Taste Studio and its upcoming lesson, check out their Facebook page. Tickets are $20 for early birds. Even the most novice chef is welcome and you can book tickets to Sunday’s session by calling 0426258778 or 0421162738 or emailing tastestudiomelbourne@gmail.com.
