Taiwanese superstar Jay Chou to perform in Sydney

Taiwanese musician Jay Chou is returning to Australia for the first time since 2009 in his final stop of his Opus Jay World Tour. Grant Roberts has the details.

Taiwanese pop megastar Jay Chou will play a one-off show at the Allphones Arena (previously Acer Arena) in Sydney on April 11, 2014, the same arena where he broke 11 Australian musical performance records, including highest production cost and largest audience.

The same concert was also released in the box office and raked in over US$2.6 million, out-grossing Beyonce and the Eagles simultaneously, making him the number one male singer across Asia.

The singer-songwriter, multi-musician and actor, best known in the western world for his role as “Kato” in The Green Hornet, will be bringing 4D cameras to the show, representing holographic images.

The opening video of his concert uses almost 100 4D cameras costing nearly $300,000 – and it’s only one minute and twenty seconds long, making this one of the costliest tours he’s had.

Chou has sold more than 41.5 million albums wordwide, released 12 albums and performed over 100 concerts globally, attracting more than 7 million people.

Tickets to his concert went on sale last Friday but they are selling fast! Seeing Jay Chou will set you back by at least $99.00, compared to the $78 that fans had to pay back in 2009.

But the Taiwanese artist promises this will be much bigger and better than his last performance on our shores. Needless to say, fans of Jay Chou will not want to miss his impending arrival next year.

Jay Chou will be playing at the Allphones Arena in New South Wales on Friday, April 11 2014. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketek’s website.
