Noodle markets are an Asian staple. Most countries have their own fantastically vibrant and buzzing version, where you can get a bowl of deliciously warm noodles for a couple of dollars.
Well now, Melbourne joins the club with its first ever night noodle market.
Fill your belly with glorious morsels of Asian street food. Vendors won’t just be serving noodles. There’ll be fluffy pork buns and fresh roti, steaming plates of dumplings and Asia-inspired ice-creams all from some of the city’s best restaurants like Wonderbao and Izakaya Den.
Wash it all down with a tension relieving drink from one of the four outdoor bars serving beer, cider, gin and wine. And don’t forget to soak up the buzzing market atmosphere and funky DJ music. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself refreshed and exam ready.
Entry into the markets is free, with the festivities kicking off at 5pm weekdays and 4pm on weekends.
The market will feature more than 25 food stalls. If it proves half as popular as its Sydney counterpart, it’s a safe bet it’ll become a standout feature of Melbourne’s events calendar for years to come.

I visited last night for the first evening of the Night Noodle Markets. The weather was beautiful and the set up is great, unfortunately the queues for food are astronomical, with wait times over 1hr just to get a small dish. Unfortunately all the queues were this size regardless of the food you wanted.
They were so long that people didnt even know which stall they were queuing for, it was a mess and many people (like us) left hungry and went to find dinner in the city!
Such a shame as its got real potential.
My friend said the same thing! I’m still keen to try the markets though. Might head down sometime next week when the crowds have (hopefully) died down a little.
We visited on Monday 18th November for the first night of the Night Noodle Market. The weather was beautiful which obviously brought more people out and about. As above the queues were out of control and over an hour wait for each stall was a little to much to handle for a small tasting portion . We also left disapointed and hungry and headed to Victoria Street Richmond instead. Such a shame as it has got real potential maybe a little more organisation is required. We heard many people deciding to to the same thing hopefully next year there will be a vast improvement.
Loved Autorickshaw- speedy Indian street food. Yum yum yum. Worth a try
yesterday when I went there there was no queues and even if there was I can just push in seeing as I am media. Yipee! I got all I wanted. Came early. But if you want to push in the lines (that is if they are too long- just say you work in the media and need photos).
the only gripe though is that the toilets are hard to find. they are not visible.
