YouTube FanFest comes to Sydney

FANCY a chance to meet your favourite YouTube stars in person? YouTube FanFest is coming to Australia for the very first time and Chrisella Sentana has the details on what to expect.

Come May 31, you won’t have to sit in front of your computer to get close to your favourite YouTube star. YouTube FanFest rolls into Sydney’s Luna Park for one night this month, uniting international and local YouTubers under one roof. The unique fan event will see popular YouTube personalities perform solo and collaborative acts.

A FanFest Academy has been orgnaised for those wanting to know more about the secrets of the YouTube trade, where famous YouTubers will provide plenty of advice for up-and-comers.

In addition, fans will also get the opportunity to participate in Q&A sessions with their favourite YouTube personalities if they’re keen on getting really up close and personal.

Below are some of the online stars fans can expect to see on the evening:

Jenna Marbles

With more than 13 million subscribers, Jenna Marbles‘ very first video, ‘How to Trick People Into Thinking You’re Good Looking’, has geared over 57 million views. Her consequent videos, ‘I Hate Being a Grown Up’ and ‘Things Girls Lie About‘ is still popular amongst YouTube watchers.

Nigahiga

Nigahiga has been around for nearly seven years and is still making fans laugh out loud with his hyperactive rants and how-to videos. He has made several catchphrases such as “bromance” and “pwned” popular with his videos.

Veritasium

Veritasium is a page dedicated to science. Created by Derek Muller, the channel has uploaded the popular ‘Atomic Bonding Song’ and showcases cool experiments demonstrated in the video, ‘Anti-Gravity Wheel.

Tyler Oakley

Comedian Tyler Oakley proved that sass on the internet can invite success with more than 4 million subscribers and 167 million views to his name. Through a Q&A video format, Oakley hilariously answers a variety of questions including how it feels to kiss someone who is straight.

Chloe Morello

Australia’s very own Chloe Morello is a hair and make-up guru. Sharing tutorials online, her Youtube channel has obtained more than 25 million views within 2 years!

The lineup will also include YouTube stars, Vsauce, Tobuscus, Bethany Mota, IISuperwomanII, Troye Sivan, mychonny, Rob Nixon and Jay Jay.

In a press release, Marek Dawidowicz, Head of Partner Marketing at YouTube expressed enthusiasm for Aussie fans, “to see the top local and international YouTube stars perform together on one stage.”

Having promoted live events for more than 50 years, Michael Chugg CEO of Chugg Entertainment (who is helping bring the event to Australian shores) was also excited for this unique event.

“[It’s] a completely unique concept and provides a live platform for talent that fans could previously interact with online.”
