The new Study Melbourne Student Centre is holding a photography competition inviting international students to leave their mark, or in this case, print, here in Victoria.

The competition will have two categories for first place, Best Metro Melbourne photograph and Best Regional Victoria photograph, and the two winners will each receive a two-day trip for two to go on a Great Ocean Rd/Grampians Tour, or a Great Ocean Rd/Phillip Island Tour.

Three runner-ups will also be chosen and receive a $100 gift card that can be used in a variety of stores across Victoria.

In addition to the prizes, the winning photos will be on permanent display at the new Study Melbourne Student Centre.

The competition brief is simple. Submit a photo that depicts your experience of living and studying in Victoria, and that will help future international students connect with your story.

The image must of course be yours and can be any of the following:

  • A portrait of an individual or group (you must have written permission of the subjects to enter the competition and use the image)
  • A self-portrait
  • A landscape
  • A still life
  • Colour
  • Black and white
  • Digitally altered for artistic purposes

You will need to submit your photos with a written description no longer than 100 words, along with your full name, student number, name of the education institution you are currently attending and the name of your course.

Interested participants should head to the Study Melbourne website for full details about eligibility,  image size and formatdetermination of winners and runners up and prize information.

Deadline for entries is Sunday June 27, 2014, and must be submitted via email to studymelbourne@dsdbi.vic.gov.au. The competition is only open to international students currently living and studying in Victoria.
