Funhouse Fridays

Situated in a side street in Brunswick, The Rubix Funhouse lives up to its name with ping pong tables, basketball hoops and a half-pipe. Get active or just kick back, grab a drink and soak up the beats at Funhouse Fridays.

Resident DJs, including Titus 12 and Snareophobe along with special guest DJs throughout the night will be dropping dub, drum’n’bass and hip hop over three rooms.

Get in early for happy hour specials and kick off your Friday night with something different!

Mornington Winter Jazz Festival
Friday, June 6 – Monday, June 9 (Times vary); Main St, Mornington

Head down to Mornington for a weekend full of music and fun with the Mornington Winter Jazz Festival. With ticketed and free events around town, there’s bound to be a bit of something to keep you entertained all day and night.

Street corners, bars, restaurants and parks will be full of live jazz music with the free event program featuring a mix of young swing and jazz musicians, VCA music students and a host of local artists.

This year’s line-up includes some truly wonderful artists including 3 piece band Elixr, featuring Katie Noonan, Wilbur Wilde, best known for his time on Australian variety television program, Hey, Hey it’s Saturday, Vince Jones and The Scott Tinkler Quartet featuring Paul Grabowsky.

The whole street will be teeming with music, so get on down to see Melbourne’s version of New Orleans!

A Taste of Portugal Festival

The A Taste of Portugal Festival is an annual event organised by the Portuguese speaking communities to coincide with their Portuguese National day. Celebrating Portuguese culture, it showcases Portuguese cuisine, music, dance, history and language.

The festival is on at the Queen Victoria Market and will include Portuguese street food and beverages and the always tasty Portuguese custard tart. After feasting, why not shake off some of those calories with a Samba or Zumba dance class.

Other things to check out at include the art and photographic exhibition and cultural displays. Meanwhile, Handcrafts demonstrations will show you how to make your very own Portugese designs and a diverse entertainment program with music and dance from Portugal, Brazil and East Timor including traditional fado singers accompanied by acoustic guitar will keep you entertained throughout the day.

You can also pick up Portuguese jewellery or handbags and learn about tourism spots in Portugal or find out where to learn Portuguese for that next holiday.
