Interactive cultural booths, Sabah and Sarawak dances and a Durian Eating Contest! All this and plenty more will make their way to Malaysia Festival 2014 on September 28 at the Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour in Sydney.

Also known as MFest, this public event has been organised by the Malaysian Students Community of Sydney. Capitalising on their theme this year, “Where Culture Shines and Diversity Defines”, the day-long festival will be bringing Malaysian cultural diversity to Sydney as it celebrates the festival’s 24th anniversary.

Numerous announced special guests will perform on the day to showcase the richness of Malaysia’s social history on stage. These include personalities such as Dina Nadzir, JinnyboyTV, Jeremy Yong, Adira and iamNEETA.

Popular Malaysian restaurants in Sydney, such as Mamak, Ipoh On York and others can also be found at Malaysia Festival as food stalls. But if you’re the kind who loves a challenge, then check out the nation’s pride – the King of Fruits, durian! An eating contest will determine who the number one consumer of durian will be! Do you dare take up the challenge?

If durian isn’t quite your cup of teh tarik, there will still be numerous stalls of traditional cuisines for your tastebuds, and performances held all day long.

The festival will be held on Sunday the 28th of September, 2014 from 10am to 5pm at the Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour, in Sydney. The entry is free!
