The 26th annual Alliance Française French Film Festival will allow amateur film makers to participate in their Short Film Competition for the first time.

The Alliance Française French Film Festival gives Australians the opportunity to experience the celebrated culture of French cinema. The festival runs for eight weeks and tours through seven cities. It is a vastly successful event, with 46 films screened more than 1500 times across the nation.

Filmmakers wanting to enter the short film competition must adhere to the guidelines: films must have a running time between 30 and 60 seconds and have the theme of ‘Motion and Emotion – itself a salute to festival partner Peugeot. Of course, these ideas must have a French feel to it. This can come in the form of the French language, photography from or of the region or French concepts in general.

Films will be  judged on how well the theme of ‘Motion and Emotion’ tied in with French culture is expressed in terms of innovation, creativity, style, and quality.

The first prize for the Short Film Competition is a return economy flight to France with three nights accommodation. First prize winner will also have the opportunity for their film to be screened during the French Film Festival!

So get those cameras rolling – the competition deadline is Friday January 16 at 5.00pm.

You can find more information about the competition at their official website.
