Melbourne Music Week 2015

Kicking off this weekend is the annual Melbourne Music Week, where you can celebrate all that is good with music across a range of activities and events to participate in.
Head down to the festival’s flagship venue, the Former Royal Women’s Hospital, and knock back a drink and chow down on food while local DJs ease you into the evening. On top of that, discover emerging jazz musicians playing throughout Emporium Melbourne or catch The Goon Sax, a group of Brisbane high school students whose brand of “shamble pop” have earned them a future debut album releasing soon in 2016.

Night Noodle Markets

As part of The Age Good Food Month, the ever-popular Night Noodle Markets will be making a welcome return this weekend, serving up noodles for 18 nights this month!
Those who have experienced the Night Noodle Markets can expect to see returning favourites such as Longrain, Wonderbao and Red Spice Road. Meanwhile, newcomers to the Night Noodle Markets such as dumpling experts Din Tai Fung, Delhi Streets and Hawker Hall will also be making appearances to hungry patrons.
Taking place along the Birrarung Marr, this is one market you won’t want to miss out on!

Wonderful Indonesia Festival
Saturday, November 14 (10.00am – 5.00pm) | Queensbridge Square (1A Queensbridge St, Southbank)
Indonesia is indeed wonderful so it is no surprise that a free community-based event celebrating the country and its culture has been organised for this weekend!
The Wonderful Indonesia Festival invites patrons to come down to Queensbridge Square and venture into Indonesian lifestyle and culture. As one might expect, the event will showcase an array of Indonesian food stalls, exhibits and music performances.
See Australian music group Justice Crew perform, watch a cooking demonstration from MasterChef 2015 contestant Reynold “Dessert King” Poernomo, catch the Indonesian martial art pencak silat (seen in action film, The Raid) on display and more!

VIVA Mexico Film Festival
November 11 – 15 (Various times) | Backlot Studios (65 Haig St, Southbank)
Mexico has given us some great gifts in the form of tacos, tequila and telenovelas. But this weekend, see another side of Mexico as the VIVA Mexico Film Festival invites you to watch some of the most exciting new films that the country has to offer.
This weekend, you can watch The Obscure Spring, an arthouse tale of infidelity set in the rarely-seen Mexican winter; Eddie Reynolds, a rock ‘n’ roll comedy about friendship, second chances and big dreams; and Guten Tag, Ramon, a film about a Mexican who ventures to Germany in search of his friend’s aunt.
