Kicking off this week is The Age Good Food Month, a celebration of the best and finest food and drinks that Melbourne and regional Victoria has to offer!

Throughout the month, you can visit participating restaurants for special tastings and other events, from masterclasses to a buffet and a ramen rave.

This weekend, indulge your sweet tooth by visiting Melba Restaurant at The Langham where you can get an unlimited dessert buffet for $39 per person; have a unique dining experience at Seven Seeds where coffee will be specially matched with your meal (this particular weekend, you can taste authentic Guatemalan coffee); or have a traditional Sri Lankan brunch consisting of poached egg hoppers, string hoppers, kottu roti and buffalo curd at Araliya in St Kilda.

Diwali at Federation Square

If you’re an Indian student wishing for a taste of home or just keen on having a great time out, why not visit Federation Square this weekend and celebrate Diwali!

Diwali, the festival of lights, is an ancient Hindu celebration and is considered the biggest festival in all of India. 2015 will mark the tenth anniversary of Federation Square’s celebration of Diwali and there will be plenty of activities to do and sights to see.

Treat yourself to some Indian food delights, catch the fireworks display, get a traditional henna painting, browse through handmade crafts, fashion and jewelry and witness several performances from dancing groups and musicians.

Also happening at Federation Square this weekend is the Melbourne Design Market, where the unique Melbourne landmark’s car park will be transformed into a market place.

A biannual event, the Melbourne Design Market has over the years welcomed many visitors and exhibitors, sourcing designers from all around the country to showcase their new and exciting art and crafts.

Featuring a mix of products including fashion pieces, jewelry, homewares, furniture, textiles, stationary and bags from talented designers around Australia, the Melbourne Design Market might just be the perfect for place for those of you looking for kitsch items to get your friends this Christmas!
