Jakarta explosions: Affected Indonesian students urged to call Consulate hotline

STUDENTS who have family and friends living in the city or know of anyone who may have been nearby at the time of the Jakarta explosions are advised to call home or seek counsel from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Melbourne.

Students can reach the Indonesian Consulate through its emergency hotline +61 477 607 075.

At least four people have been killed in a series of explosions close to the Sarinah shopping centre, which is also nearby the UN offices in the Indonesian capital.

Police say suicide bombers are responsible.

According to The Guardian’s rolling report, the scene remains active and gunshots are still being heard in the nation’s capital.

More to come.
