Students and staff at Melbourne, Monash, Deakin and La Trobe Universities will soon benefit from new shuttle bus routes to and from campus as the Victorian State Government has announced it will roll out improved transportation services in time for the start of a new semester.

Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan announced these new and improved bus services will make “public transport simpler and quicker” for staff and students.

“We’re making it easier for students and staff to get to and from train and bus hubs to where they study and work,” Ms Allan said.

Students at Melbourne University can expect additional bus services on Route 505 between Moonee Ponds and the University and a new Route 403 shuttle bus operating between Footscray Station and Melbourne University. More trips at peak hours and better connections with train services can also be expected.

La Trobe University will recieve a new bus service between Reservoir Station and the university’s primary Bundoora campus, with a bus arriving every ten minutes between 7.00am and 7.00pm on university days. In the past, no single ‘best option’ for students and staff travelling to and from La Trobe University’s Bundoora Campus had existed.

Deakin University will receive an additional new service, Route 201, connecting Box Hill station to the University’s Burwood campus. Route 201 will also operate every 20 minutes from 7.00am to 10.00pm on university days.

Monash University meanwhile will benefit from six new express bus services between Rosebud and the Mornington University Peninsula Campus on university days.

New shuttle services for Deakin, Monash and Melbourne Universities will commence February 22. La Trobe University’s new services will commence February 16, coinciding with the University’s International Welcome Festival to orientate its new international students.
