Too shy to take the first step? You won’t have to at this speed-friending and pizza night

What do I talk about? Should I bring this up? Maybe I should avoid that topic?

We understand how hard it can be for students to take that first step and break the ice in social situations. As international students, these social situations are compounded by cultural adjustments and language barriers which make it all the more difficult to make new friends and reach out.

Fortunately for international students new to Melbourne or those who’ve been here for a while, we’re inviting you to our FREE Speed-Friending & Pizza Night where you will get the chance to meet new people and enjoy free pizza!

For the uninitiated, speed-friending is based on the concept of speed-dating, except the objective is, as the name suggests, to help forge friendships. It provides a fast and easy way for students to connect with each other in a structured way, and removes the stress of having to “break the ice” with strangers.

The event is free, but you will need to register via the form below to attend, as spaces are limited.

So if you’re looking to make some new pals over pizzas aplenty, come join us at the Multicultural Hub (506, Elizabeth St) on Thursday, April 6 (6.30pm – 8.30pm) for a fun night of mingling and socialising!

Register now to book your place at our Speed-Friending and Pizza Night. Students with dietary requirements will be able to indicate their preferences in online the registration form:

This event is proudly hosted by Meld Community and supported by the City of Melbourne through a community grant as part of a year-long PEER Project campaign which seeks to help international students build healthy community, explore and find peer-support on issues around identity and gender, discuss common struggles and stereotypes, and gain the confidence to navigate current and future relationships.
