The annual Melbourne International Student Conference returns for a fifth year this May, with a focus on supporting students to find their purpose, lead change in the student community and build a career with impact.
Taking place at RMIT Storey Hall on Friday May 11, the theme of this year’s conference is ‘Purpose Change Impact’, with organisers expecting some 150 student and industry delegates in attendance.
The conference will be especially relevant for students seeking to figure out some of life’s big questions around purpose and direction, led by conference keynote speaker Dr Kaushik Sridhar.
Dr Sridhar, an international student alumni who was until recently the corporate citizenship manager of KPMG, and now Head of Sustainability at Regis Healthcare, will share his unique journey on finding purpose and developing a pragmatic passion.
Since it was established in 2014, the conference has produced excellent outcomes for delegates and has supported students in accessing mentoring and work experience opportunities, helping them get a headstart in their career and gain the confidence to become a leader in the wider community.
Topics that will be addressed in MISC 2018 include:

Speakers
Delegates attending the conference can expect to be inspired and challenged by real-life stories of people in pursuit of purpose and meaningful work.
In line with the conference theme, MISC 2018 will feature founders, leaders and educators from the social enterprise and not-for-profit sector, speaking about mental health and well-being, environmental sustainability, corporate responsibility and sustainability, and the how to’s of social entrepreneurship.

Program
In addition to the keynote and breakout sessions, other highlights of the conference program include a student and industry co-design session to develop solutions to strengthen students’ sense of belonging both on campus and the wider community, and opportunities for personal or small group reflections on purpose.
The conference will conclude with a professional networking night at the Melbourne Town Hall, but not before learning the ins and outs of networking in both an Australian context and multicultural contexts in a session led by cultural intelligence expert Liz Lor.
