FEELING the winter chill but don’t want to spend money on a whole new wardrobe? Trinity College Foundation Studies students Amanda Foong, Eric Luo, and Mila Effendi show you five easy ways to use your summer wardrobe this winter.
1. Limitless Layers
In Melbourne’s unpredictable weather, layers are your best bet. By layering the thin tops you own, you can keep the winter chill at bay! A layer can make all the difference in the world and the beauty of layers is you can add or take them away depending on how the weather changes.
2. Love for Leggings
Leggings are often overlooked come winter – but they are actually surprisingly warm! They come in all colours and patterns to suit every girl’s style. Some leggings are thicker than others, but thin leggings can also be layered to keep warm. You can even wear them inside another pair of pants if it’s an extra cold day.
3. Crazy Cardigans & Like-a-Boss Blazers
Cardigans and blazers come in handy during this time of the year because they are both stylish and warm! Best of all, they are a classic and can be worn for any occasion.
Dress to impress with a blazer, like Eric and Athira (photo above). Cardigans are versatile and can be worn as an extra layer for warmth (just like in step one).
4. Don’t Mess, Dress!
So, you’ve just bought a great new dress – but it’s too cold to put it on! We’ve got a solution: tuck the dress into your jeans, and pair it with boots, a jacket, and a scarf.
Now you can be both stylish and warm!
5. Super Socks
Knee-high socks are a staple for any Autumn-Winter wardrobe. If you’ve never tried it on before, you’ll find that it helps make legs look longer, and is effortless to put together for any outfit!
If you are running out of scarves, these socks can double up as a scarf as well. Athira rocks this style in the photo below!
