Lord Mayor’s Creative Writing Awards 2011 now open

CALLING all aspiring writers! This is your chance to gain recognition for your work as well as win $5000 in the Lord Mayor’s Creative Writing Awards 2011. Jowee Tee reports.

CALLING all aspiring writers! This is your chance to gain recognition for your work as well as win $5000 in the Lord Mayor’s Creative Writing Awards 2011.

Celebrating Melbourne’s status as a UNESCO City of Literature, the award seeks to support all emerging writers, and promote Melbourne as a place of ideas and creativity.

Entry submissions are now open to all, young and old, living in the state of Victoria.

These are the five categories:

  • Short story
  • The Dorothy Porter Award for Poetry
  • Novella
  • Graphic short story
  • eBook (short story or novella)

 

The main award, worth $5000, will be chosen from a shortlist made up of the five category winners, while individual category winners will be awarded $1000.

Submissions close on August 31, 2011.

Winners will be announced in November 2011.
