BE a part of this year’s International Student Information Day this April and be up to date with everything you need to know about maximising your time here in Melbourne. Plus there’s the chance to win some fantastic prizes! Ernest Lee brings you the details.
Busy with assignments or studying? Give yourself a break and head down to the International Student Information Day on April 5!
Whether you’re a new or returning international student, after summer vacation there are many responsibilities to undertake and a lot of demands for information on a range of issues.
But fret not! The International Student Information Day is your one-stop for all the information and entertainment you need as an international student studying and living in Victoria.
The Australian Federation of International Students (AFIS) in collaboration with the Victorian Government will be hosting the event, in its fifth year running.
AFIS aims to deliver accurate and timely information specifically catered to the issues faced by international students.
Information booths hosted by various government agencies and non-profit student service providers such as International Student Care Services, Culture Card, Victoria Police, GLoBALL, Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Meld Magazine and many others will be there to provide international students with professional opinions and further information on a range of issues.
Look forward to presentations and Q&A sessions on employment, general skill migration visa, taxation, volunteering, safety and work rights.
There will also be workshop sessions on job-hunting, how to write your resume and tips on how to study better.
Plenty of music and entertainment are installed for the event, including a live DJ remixing the latest hits.
Students will also be treated to a series of engaging and interactive multicultural performances such as Bollywood dancing, Indigenous Australian performance, and hip-hop dancing.
Best of all, the event is absolutely FREE. There will also be a free lunch and loads of prizes up for grabs such as an iPad Mini, iPod Nano, wireless speakers, iPod shuffles, movie tickets and more to be given away.
Guaranteed to be both fun and informative, every international student would be able find something relevant and useful to them at the International Student Information Day. It would also be a great chance to expand your network and meet some new friends!
Pre-register now as there are limited spaces and invite your friends. If five or more of them show up on the day, you’ll be in the draw to win double movie passes.
See you there!
