Who to watch it with: If you’re going home to spend time with your family, the perfect films for some family bonding are definitely Home Alone and Elf.

Home Alone

An oldie but a goodie, Home Alone is about the hilarious adventures of eight-year-old Kevin McCallister, who was accidentally left behind by his family during Christmas. It’s a classic that guarantees a great night in with the family over the Christmas holidays.

Elf

Elf is a heart-warming Christmas comedy full of love and joy, and follows the story of Buddy, one of Santa’s elves who learns he is not an elf but a human and embarks on a journey from the North Pole to New York in search for his father.

Who to watch it with: If you’ve decided to spend some quality time with your significant other, some good films to cuddle up with are Love Actually and The Holiday.

Love Actually

A classic Hollywood romance to watch with your significant other is Love Actually. The movie revolves around more than a dozen main characters, each weaving their way into each other’s heart on a particular event – Christmas. Heart-warming and funny, it’s a movie you’ll never tire of, and deserves a re-run Christmas or not.

The Holiday

Another rom-com to catch is The Holiday. Nursing a broken heart, Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet) meet online and deciding that a change of scenery is needed, they swap houses for the Christmas holiday. There, they find people who catch their eye and hopefully, will help them get over their heartbreak.

Who to watch it with: If you’ve got younger siblings, or would simply like to indulge your inner child, Arthur Christmas or Charlie Brown Christmas are perfect for the occasion.

Arthur Christmas

This is not a traditional story. Santa uses technology to send Christmas gift to children around the world, for example using spaceships and an automatic system. Arthur is the son of Santa and always causes trouble. However, he has a pure heart that cares about every child’s Christmas wish. One Christmas however, a gift is left behind and everything falls into disorder.

Charlie Brown Christmas

So this isn’t technically a film, but Charlie Brown Christmas is a cartoon you can’t not mention. An animated television special based on the comic strip Peanuts, the program made its debut way back in 1965. It’s a tale that not only explores the true meaning of Christmas, but also takes you back to your childhood.
