Dutch Orange Day 2015: A Taste of Holland
Sunday, April 26 (10.30am – 4.00pm); Queensbridge Square
Wear something orange this Sunday and wish people a happy “goedemorgen!” at the KLM Dutch Orange Festival, a free celebration happening at Queensbridge Square in Southbank.
Starting at 10.00am, the vibrant Dutch festival kicks off in conjunction with their national holiday, ‘Koningsdag’, or King’s Day.
With exciting activities such as face painting, games and cultural performances, Dutch Orange Day 2015 also showcases the best of Dutch cuisine, with exotic street foods such as ‘poffertjes’ (or Dutch pancakes), stroopwafels, fresh herring, beef croquettes and many more.
During the day, stalls will be set up in the style of a traditional Dutch free market, or ‘Vrijmarket’. This special market is popular during King’s Day, a national holiday in Netherlands, and sells just about anything, from traditional drinks and clothes, to electronics and other vintage items.
If you’re also feeling lucky on the day, participate in a silent auction to win a ticket to Amsterdam! All proceeds of the auction will also be donated to charity.
