Five phone apps that can help students save money on lifestyle expenses

Always on the hunt for bargains? With phones apps created for just about everything, it should come as no surprise that there are a large number of apps out there in the world that are designed to help save you money.

For international students, saving money tends to be quite paramount, especially if they want to enjoy life outside of the classroom.

Shopping, traveling and other activities that make it into their everyday lifestyle all cost money so to help students get started,here are five apps that can help you save cash on a variety of activities.

Booking.com

Feeling the wanderlust but on a constrained budget? Accommodation is usually one of the biggest expenses when it comes to travelling. The Booking.com app may ease this burden. Download the app before you set off on your journey and never fear losing out on accommodation options.

By typing in your destination, several hotel and motel options will be displayed to you. Filtering options are available for you to look for a hotel that satisfies your needs and budget. There are regular sales and offer prices displayed.

In addition, most of the hotels are free to cancel so you don’t have to be worried if you need to make a last minute cancellation.

Optus Perks

Ticket prices for the cinema are soaring and this leisurely activity has become an expensive one for students.

Fortunately, if you are using an Optus SIM card on your phone, you are entitled to discounted tickets through an Optus rewards program that can be accessed through their app, Optus Perks. Users are able to buy discount movie tickets at nearly half the price of student concession tickets.

Shopstyle

Your one stop shop for a huge range of brands, shopping for clothes has never been this easy!

The Shopstyle app has filtering options that include size, color and price to tailor your browsing experience. The products available through Shopstyle are also affordable and sales are in abundance. Shopstyle is definitely a great choice for students who want to look their best and save money while doing it.

Alternatively, if something isn’t available on Shopstyle, perhaps look into trying out UNiDays which provides discount codes to students across Australia. Just sign up with your student credentials and you’re good to go!

They also advertise sales that the participating affiliated shops are having, making it a great way for you to save using your student status but also keep track of upcoming sales. Participating brands include much loved Topshop, ASOS, Apple and HP.

Groupon

Are you willing to try high-class restaurants but don’t want to pay with a limb? Want to watch movies with a friend but can’t afford the tickets? Groupon gives you the chance to enjoy various goods and services at low prices.

For example, you can score double pass movie voucher to Hoyts Cinemas for only $20! The categories of products and services available is so wide that you can find a deal on almost everything! This includes car washing, lessons to lose weight and even a journey to Perth!
