Australian universities are among the best in the world, according to the new 2018 QS World University Rankings.
The international rankings have included selected five Australian universities in its top 50. These universities include:
- Australian National University (20)
- The University of Melbourne (41)
- The University of New South Wales (45)
- The University of Queensland (47)
- The University of Sydney (50)
Other Australian universities have also entered into the world’s top 100: Monash University (60) and The University of Western Australia (93).
Apart from the University of Sydney, the rankings for these seven universities have been improved compared to their 2016 – 2017 QS World University Rankings.
The top university in the QS World University Rankings this year is Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from the United States. In the past six years, MIT has held onto its position as the the number one university in the world.
The QS World University Rankings is one of the largest university rankings in the world and measure a university’s capacity for a students’ employability, internationalisation, research performance, and teaching. Global university rankings continue to play a significant factor for international students’ and their choices in overseas universities.
This year, 959 universities were placed within in the rankings, with 37 Australian universities included in the mix.
