INTERNATIONAL students are invited to take part in a International Students Have Talent competition as part of Darebin’s Festival of Light and Friendship.
With approximately 4000 international students living in the region of Darebin, the festival aims to give these students a chance to learn about Darebin while getting to know each other through a range of free and fun activities.
“The aim of the festival is to welcome international students into the community,” event organiser Odra Santos says.
“This is a good opportunity for them to be recognised by the community and it’s also a good way to connect with other international students. This festival will really highlight the roles of international students in the community.”
Participants in the competition can be entered into karaoke, battle of the bands, DJ Duel, traditional song and dance, and various other live performances. Both individual and group entries can join.
Prizes on offer include tickets and dinner to Northcote Social Club and free recording sessions at the Decibels Recording Studio.
If you would like to register for the competition, email sarah.poole@darebin.vic.gov.au.
The Festival of Light will be held on Sunday October 30 from 3 to 5pm at Edwardes Lake Park, Edwardes St, Reservoir (see map). For more information, email student_talent@yahoo.com.au.
