THE City of Melbourne wants to hear from you! This March and April, residents can give feedback to their council at four community forums about the city they live in. Ernest Lee has more.
If you have something to suggest to your council that would benefit you and other Melbourne residents, you now have the chance to let them know.
From Thursday 20 March to Wednesday 30 April, four community forums will be held at the Melbourne Town Hall, East Melbourne Library, North Melbourne Town Hall and Kensington Community Centre.
Suburbs within the City of Melbourne include Carlton, Docklands, East Melbourne, Kensington/Flemington, Melbourne and the CBD, North Melbourne, Parkville, Port Melbourne, Southbank, South Yarra and West Melbourne.
Councillor Richard Foster, Chair of Council’s People City portfolio, said that it is a great opportunity to get feedback from the community in order to make improvements.
“The City of Melbourne provides services and community infrastructure for more than 100,000 residents and an average of 850,000 daily visitors. The old adage that councils simply look after roads, rates and rubbish could not be further from the truth,” Cr Foster said.
The forums will each run for two hours and will feature a series of information displays and include a panel of Councillors responding to questions.
In the first hour attendees will have the opportunity to have a one-on-one conversation with Councillors and council staff while they are viewing the information displays on council programs and services including parks and gardens, parking and traffic, and community services.
The second hour will host a panel of Councillors each presenting on their area of focus and responding to community questions and questions brought up on Participate Melbourne.
People can now register to attend. If you would like to raise a specific question, you can do so at Participate Melbourne, or attend and ask a question from the floor at the forum.
