The annual Australian Federation for International Students (AFIS) Info Day is back and will feature a range of informative seminars to help new and current international students with a range of needs.
These include information on where to find specific services catering to international students, career guides, updates on immigration policy and coping with homesickness. And for students looking to know more about Aussie rules footy, sessions introducing to the sport of the AFL will also be on hand to catch you up on the local obsession.
Unique, specially customised presentations for newly arrived students will also be presented as well as a range of info stalls where new international students will be able to get a more in-depth explanation on specific services for students.
Select stalls promise to offer students assistance in their future careers and offer advice and reviews of their resumes in workshops.
The day is shaping up to be great opportunity for students to meet new people and expand their network. Attendees will also have the chance to win an iPad by participating in the lucky draw!
The AFIS Info Day will take place on Saturday, March 12 from 11.00am – 5.00pm at the City Convention Centre (Lv 12, Victoria University, 300 Flinders St, Melbourne). For more information, on the event head to AFIS’ website.
It was really exciting to talk with the different representatives from Meld Magazine, AFIS, Salvation Army, Melbourne Football Club and many others.
I wish my ESL students had been there, as they would have learned a lot more about the opportunities in Melbourne. I passed along fliers to my students and staff – so hopefully we can take advantage of activities going on in Melbourne.
Thanks so much! – Arlo Druzba
